What a week this has been trying to get this blog up and running. Whew! Now to remember how I did this again for next week.
Where to start! It has been an interesting week learning about the 5 E's and trying to put them into place within the template. It is not that I don't already use them, it is just that I integrate and not define them on my plans. I have also enjoyed reading about each of the different scientists that you have brought to light and are not readily thought of or recognized. It is through all of us that they receive recognition and value in the eyes of our students.
Theresa,
ReplyDeleteI also use the 5 E's in my classroom as well and many times I do not define them in my plans, which I see is helpful now.
Do you always incorporate all the 5 E's in every plan you do?
I found that trying to write my plan this week I was more writing the 5 E's for the unit and not daily for a lesson because not everyday do I touch on every single one. Maybe I analyzed it too much and tried to put everything in when I did not need to but I am hoping my feedback will tell me that.
By the way nice set up of your Blog!!
I do not always incorporate each portion of the 5 E's. Definitley "Engage", but not necessarily all parts. I found that that I also spent a great deal of time focusing on the 5 E's and worried that I might not address other important factors in the lesson. I find it valuable, but time consuming to incorporate in every lesson.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think about it?
Theresa,
ReplyDeleteDo you think that this lesson plan format would be better utilized as a unit or daily lesson plan?
My thoughts are that it would be a great unit lesson plan format to ensure that I try and use different forms of technology and also ensure what I want the students to understand.
I think this format can be used in both situations, but it is a lot more work to write as extensive as this requires for a single lesson. I would use it more for a unit.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100% as far as integrating technology. I attended a STEM conference for a week last summer. It was fantastic, but one of the instructors did this for each lesson.
I think that unit would be fine, because this would take hours to prepare for a single lesson.
